Aaron Hill Brings Veteran Leadership, MLB Experience To Red Sox’s Bench

The Boston Red Sox’s trade to land veteran infielder Aaron Hill from the Milwaukee Brewers wasn’t a flashy one, but that doesn’t mean it wasn’t important.

The Red Sox have been bitten by the injury bug heading into the All-Star break, and trading for Hill only stresses the importance of depth. Before the trade, the Red Sox had a rotating assortment of minor leaguers on their bench, but now they have a strong veteran presence in the 34-year-old Hill.

Hill isn’t the move that will take the Red Sox to the World Series, but it certainly won’t hurt them in the long run. Listen to NESN’s Adam Pellerin and Tim Wakefield talk about it on Saturday’s “Red Sox First Pitch” in the video above.
