Mavericks Avoid DeAndre Jordan Situation By Handcuffing Harrison Barnes

The Dallas Mavericks aren’t going to let another free agent slip between their fingers.

During last season’s free-agency period, the Mavs got caught up in the dramatic (and sometimes hilarious) DeAndre Jordan saga when the then-free-agent center changed his mind and stayed with the Los Angeles Clippers after originally agreeing to sign with Dallas. So this year, the Mavericks brass made sure their No. 1 free agent, Harrison Barnes, wasn’t going anywhere.

Barnes himself seemed to think the joke was funny, but the former Golden State Warriors forward probably doesn’t have too many complaints after signing that four-year, $94 million contract in coach Rick Carlisle’s hand.
