What do Mookie Betts and Johnny Pesky have in common? We’re glad you asked.

Betts made a bit of history Tuesday night when he collected his 200th hit of the season on a single in the third inning against Baltimore Orioles right-hander Kevin Gausman.

It was the Red Sox right fielder’s second hit of the game, as he led off with a single, too. He also became the first player in Major League Baseball to reach 200 hits this season.

But perhaps the most interesting fact is Betts became the second Red Sox player ever to have 200 hits in a season before turning 24 years old. The other player? Pesky.

That’s certainly some good company to join.
