Twitter Translation Of Koji Uehara’s Post-NLCS Tweet Is Beyond Perfect

If you don’t follow Koji Uehara on Twitter, you probably should. Even if you don’t speak Japanese.

The Chicago Cubs reliever took to Twitter on Thursday to address fans after the Los Angeles Dodgers eliminated the Cubs from the Major League Baseball playoffs. Considering the entire tweet was written in Japanese, most Cubs fans probably didn’t know what Uehara said. But alas, there’s a translation function — although Uehara probably wishes there wasn’t.

Also, we too hope Uehara does his best next year, provided you contract is (^^;).

Now, Twitter’s Bing-powered, in-service translation function likely deserves all the blame for this. Because if you open the tweet in Google Chrome, you get an entirely different translation that makes much more sense.

Still pretty rough, but you can discern that Uehara basically is apologizing for not being able to do enough to continue the season, as he was left off the Cubs’ National League Championship Series roster.

Shame, Bing. Shame.
