Brad Marchand was forced to part with some cash Friday, but the Boston Bruins star couldn’t be sweating it any less.
Marchand was hit with a $2,000 fine by the NHL on Friday for an embellishment infraction that took place in the Bruins’ 8-4 win over the Pittsburgh Penguins on March 1.
Speaking with the media after the fine was put in place, Marchand expressed just how little he cares about being forced to cough up the two grand.
“That ($2,000) hit is very small and minor,” Marchand said, per NBC Sports Bostons’ Joe Haggerty. “It’s the last thing I’m going to worry about. “I don’t care about this. It’s a joke. It’s a small amount of money and pretty stupid. But it is what it is.”
It makes sense why Marchand is brushing off the fine, as the star winger has more important things to worry about at this stage in the season. As the Bruins deal with a slew of injuries, Marchand has elevated his game to new heights. The two-time All-Star arguably is having the best season of his nine-year career, and his stellar play has helped Boston stay near the top of the Eastern Conference standings.
