Andrew Benintendi wasn’t featured in Boston Red Sox’s starting lineup for Wednesday’s game against the New York Yankees, but the young outfielder still managed to integrate himself into the tense competition.

After the national anthem concluded and first pitch at Fenway Park approached, Benintendi remained standing in foul territory instead of returning to the dugout. But he wasn’t the only one, as Yankees pitcher Jordan Montgomery followed suit, resulting in a hilarious standoff between the two players.

You can check it out in the video here.

Umpires eventually intervened as the game was set to get underway. But if we’re getting technical, Benintendi stayed on the field a bit longer than Montgomery, who clearly didn’t want to ruffle the umps’ feathers too much.

Considering Boston is amid a nine-game win streak entering Wednesday, it doesn’t come as too much of a surprise it came up with this small victory.
