Bill Belichick and the New England Patriots sent shockwaves through the NFL on Tuesday when they traded wide receiver Brandin Cooks to the Los Angeles Rams.
New England received the Rams’ first-round draft pick (No. 23 overall) and a sixth-round pick in this year’s draft. While this move gives the Patriots two first-round picks in the 2018Â draft, giving them either the ability to draft two high-caliber players or package the picks and move up to take Tom Brady’s successor, one insane pundit thinks the move was made for another reason.
Noted Patriots fan and FOX Sports 1 talking head Skip Bayless took to Twitter on Wednesday to float a laughable theory about a possible reason Cooks was shipped to LA.
It’s difficult to explain so just take a look.
I'm starting to think Belichick wants to handicap Brady with only Edelman and Malcolm Mitchell (who missed all last season with injuries) and Chris Hogan (who missed seven games last season due to injury). At some point, Brady will want out.

Wow.
Sure there has been a reported power struggle between Belichick and Brady within the Patriots organization, but it’s pretty outlandish to assume one of the greatest coaches of all time is trying to sabotage his star quarterback out of hubris.
But if there’s a way for Bayless to debate this conspiracy theory, he absolutely will.Â
