Alex Cora’s first year as manager of the Boston Red Sox couldn’t have gone any better.
The Caguas, Puerto Rico, native became just the fifth person to win a World Series in his first season as a Major League Baseball manager. Cora also is the first Puerto Rico-born manager to win the Fall Classic.
The 43-year-old’s life and rise to the top of the baseball mountain will be documented in “Alex Cora: The Making of a Champion,” an MLB Network special set to air Tuesday night.

While Cora no doubt is humbled and proud of his past, his sights now are set on the future.
The Red Sox’s quest to repeat as World Series champions will begin Wednesday when pitchers and catchers report for spring training.
