Bill Belichick Offered Blunt Self-Assessment To Rams’ Sean McVay After Loss

It’s not often that a Bill Belichick-led group is on the wrong side of the coaching matchup.

It was, however, the case during the New England Patriots’ Week 14 loss to the Los Angeles Rams on “Thursday Night Football.” And Belichick knows it.

Belichick, as he usually does, took questions from reporters after the loss, explaining how the Patriots were out-played and out-coached in all areas. It was the traditional ‘It wasn’t good enough to win’ etc., etc., etc. sort of speech.

Belichick offered a more blunt self-assessment to Rams head coach Sean McVay, though.

“Great job. You (expletive) killed us,” Belichick said during the postgame handshake with McVay. “You had a great plan.”

McVay’s Rams, as you may recall, were on the opposite end of a similar loss in Super Bowl LIII. The LA coach expressed after Thursday’s win it was not a sense of redemption, but instead a “big win” against a “really tough football team.”

The Patriots’ loss at SoFi Stadium, along with how the NFL’s Week 14 slate played out (most notably with the Ravens’ win over Browns), just about put an end to New England’s playoff hopes.

The 6-7 Patriots will travel to the Miami Dolphins for a Week 15 game on Sunday.
