Tom Brady Rumors: FOX Rejected Netflix’s Request For Ex-Patriots QB

Netflix will jump into the NFL media landscape with a Christmas Day doubleheader, but it doesn’t sound like Tom Brady will link back up with the streaming service.

On Christmas Day, Netflix will broadcast matchups between the Kansas City Chiefs-Pittsburgh Steelers and Baltimore Ravens-Houston Texans. The streaming platform reportedly paid $150 million for the exclusive broadcast as it continues its foray into sports after airing the Joey Chestnut versus Takeru Kobayashi special and announcing a deal to be the exclusive home of WWE’s “RAW.”

It only made sense for Netflix to seek out a high-profile broadcasting crew, and it reportedly had its eyes set on Kevin Burkhardt and Brady. However, according to Ryan Glasspiegel of the New York Post, FOX Sports rejected the request.

Brady working with Netflix again would have made sense since the former New England Patriots quarterback was at the center of a roast special on the streaming platform. The future Hall of Famer might have regretted how some things played out, but it still was a hit when it aired.

The New York Post added that Netflix targeted Ian Eagle, Noah Eagle, Greg Olsen and Nate Burleson as its backup broadcast team. Ian Eagle and Burleson work for CBS Sports, which is producing the games for Netflix as a third party. Noah Eagle works for NBC Sports, and Olsen is still with FOX Sports. It’s unclear if the networks would grant Netflix’s requests for them.
