Red Sox relief pitcher Cam Booser was named the 2024 Tony Conigliaro Award recipient, which honors a player’s determination and spirit in overcoming adversity.
Retiring from baseball in 2017 due to injuries, Booser pursued carpentry and coached at a baseball training facility. The reliever started pitching again in 2020, and eventually signed a minor league deal with the Red Sox.
After pitching for Triple-A Worcester, Booser was called up by the Red Sox on April 19 when he made his MLB debut. Booser made a huge comeback and recorded the final three outs in an 8-1 win over the Pirates.
