The New England Patriots have three primary pillars to offer in their pitch to head coaching candidates.

They may just have the best offer in the league, which is significant for a franchise that’s gone 4-13 in back-to-back seasons. New England does have a quarterback to build around, the draft and the financial resources to fix problems.

FS1’s Colin Cowherd used that list of assets to name the Patriots as the best of the six available openings in the league.

“I think now the Patriots is the best job,” Cowherd shared on “The Herd” Friday. “I have stability in ownership. They do not run through coaches. They have a quarterback and a backup quarterback. They have the most cap space in the NFL, and they own the No. 4 pick.”

Cowherd added that proper use of those assets could get New England back in the playoffs quickly given the lack of depth around the AFC East. That insinuated the Patriots could find a path to leaping the New York Jets and Miami Dolphins behind the Buffalo Bills.

“For a franchise without a lot of juice, they’ve got a handful of good players, most on defense,” Cowherd added. “They’ve got the quarterback and his backup. I have a lot of cap space, and outside of Buffalo, there’s a lot of dysfunction in this division. You can get the wild-card spot here over New York or Miami on a regular basis.”

The Patriots have completed their list of scheduled interviews and now move to the point of making a consequential decision.
