The Summer of Jayson Tatum rolls on.
It's been a nice couple of weeks for the Celtics star, who won his first NBA championship, signed a record-breaking contract extension and joined Team USA for the Paris Olympics since June 17. More spoils were added Wednesday when the NBA 2K franchise revealed Tatum will grace the cover for the standard edition of this year's video game. The 26-year-old also will share a cover with Las Vegas Aces phenom A'ja Wilson for the All-Star edition of the game.
Tatum is set to become the fourth Celtics player to be featured on a cover in the NBA 2K series, joining fellow Boston legends Kevin Garnett ("NBA 2K9") and Larry Bird ("NBA 2K12" Larry Bird cover). Kyrie Irving also landed the cover of "NBA2K18" ahead of his first season with the Celtics, but he was a member of the Cleveland Cavaliers when he initially received the honor.
Fans will be able to preorder all versions of "NBA2K25" at various times Wednesday, depending on console. As for Tatum, he and his fellow American Olympians are set for an exhibition matchup with Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Team Canada in Las Vegas, with tipoff set for 10:30 p.m. ET. FS1 will carry coverage of the friendly.
