Boston Bruins fans waited to see this from highly regarded prospect Fabian Lysell for some time.

And Lysell finally delivered his first NHL goal Sunday against the Pittsburgh Penguins at PPG Paints Arena.

Lysell lit the lamp at the 8:52 mark of the second period when he took a terrific pass from Pavel Zacha and deposited his point-blank chance past Penguins goalie Tristian Jarry to give the Bruins a 2-0 lead.

It was Lysell’s 11th game of the campaign as the 2021 first-round pick spent the majority of his time this season with Boston’s AHL affiliate. The 22-year-old Sweden native made his NHL debut for the Bruins in December before being sent back down. Boston then recalled Lysell at the end of March with the Bruins out of the playoff picture.

Lysell picked up his first NHL point last Tuesday when he assisted on a goal from Casey Mittelstadt in a 7-2 road win over the New Jersey Devils.

Much was expected out of Lysell since the Bruins drafted him as he became one of the most known prospects in Boston’s systems. He hasn’t lived up to the hype, but the final stretch of the regular season could be his audition to spend more time in the NHL next season.
