The Boston College Eagles will wrap up their season this weekend with a trip to Syracuse, where they will take on the Orange as three-point road betting favorites at sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark.com.

It has been a disappointing campaign for the Eagles, who have failed to qualify for bowl season for the first time in three years after suffering straight-up losses in their past seven games.

Saddled with an 0-7 SU record against Atlantic Coast Conference opponents, Boston College enters Saturday afternoon’s Eagles vs. Orange betting matchup at the Carrier Dome with one final chance to avoid a winless conference season and climb out of the basement in the Atlantic Division.

The Eagles’ woes continued last week with a 19-16 loss to Notre Dame at Fenway Park.

Despite another meager offensive performance, in which they failed to penetrate Fighting Irish territory until early in the third quarter, the Eagles picked up the against-the-spread win, scoring two late touchdowns to cover as 14 1/2-point underdogs and place Notre Dame’s College Football Playoff aspirations in serious doubt.

While the Eagles have struggled to average just over 10 points per game during their lengthy swoon, they have performed well at the sportsbooks, particularly on the road, where they are undefeated ATS in their last five.

Indeed, it has been a banner year for the Eagles’ defense, which leads the nation in multiple team defense categories, including total yards, total yards per game and rushing yards per game allowed.

BC also ranks fifth in the nation in points allowed per game, closely trailing powerhouses like Ohio State and Alabama, at 14.8. Those defensive numbers should serve it well against a Syracuse squad that rides an eight-game SU losing streak into the final week of the season.

The Orange have surrendered over 500 total yards of offense in each of their last four losses but remain a respectable 5-3 ATS during their current slide. Syracuse has scored 24 or more points in five of its eight recent losses but has been hot and cold in recent meetings with BC, going 3-3 SU and ATS in its last six while putting just seven points on the scoreboard in two of its last three.

In other ACC college football betting action this weekend, Clemson travels to South Carolina to battle the Gamecocks in this year’s Palmetto Bowl as 17-point chalk, the North Carolina State Wolfpack host North Carolina as six-point underdogs, and Florida entertains Florida State as a three-point underdog.
