At long last, the wait is over. Boston Bruins playoff hockey is about to start.

The Bruins’ dominance in the final couple months of the regular season had fans clamoring for what could be come Stanley Cup playoff time. Well, it’s finally that time, and after a long break, the Bruins will hit the ice Friday night at TD Garden to open their first-round series against the Detroit Red Wings.

The long layoff allowed both teams ample time to prepare. It also gave NESN Bruins play-by-play man Jack Edwards a chance to really scout the Red Wings, and he took some time to discuss the series with NESN.com’s Mike Cole and Nicholas Goss. Hear what they all had to say about it in the NESN.com Bruins podcast, and see Mike and Nick’s Eastern Conference and Western Conference predictions here and here.
