Nine years without a Super Bowl win wouldn’t be cause for concern for most NFL teams, but Bill Belichick has made some structural changes to the New England PatriotsĀ in 2014.
It appears the days of winning with a strong offense and feeble defense are over as the Patriots head into OTAs. Their defensive rebuild, which started in 2009 when players like Tedy Bruschi, Mike Vrabel, Richard Seymour, Ty Warren and Rodney Harrison had retired or moved on, finally is complete. Adding defensive tackle Dominique Easley and cornerbacks Darrelle Revis and Brandon Browner should only strengthen a unit that already looked poised for success before injuries ravagedĀ the Patriots’ defense in 2013.
NESN.com beat writer Doug Kyed discusses Patriots OTAs and the upcoming 2014 season with NFL Media’s Gregg Rosenthal on this week’s Patriots Podcast.
