On this episode of the “TC & Company Podcast,” Tom Caron is joined by Red Sox chief baseball officer Chaim Bloom to discuss what went on behind the scenes during the MLB trade deadline. He explains the thought process and strategy behind why the team didn’t make a big splash as they enter the final third of the season.
Despite not making any major moves, the Sox did acquire infielder Luis UrÃas from the Milwaukee Brewers minutes before the trade deadline.
While that trade didn’t seem to generate headlines it will have an immediate impact on the current roster with Christian Arroyo designated for assignment in order to activate UrÃas. Bloom goes in-depth on the decision to DFA Arroyo as the Red Sox prepare to kick off a weekend series against the Toronto Blue Jays at Fenway Park.
