The Cowboys finally gave Tony Romo his due. But was it too much?
Romo agreed to a six-year, $108 million extension on Friday to stay as Dallas’ starting quarterback for the foreseeable future. The deal guarantees Romo $55 million, which seems like a little much for a soon-to-be 33-year-old quarterback with just one postseason victory.
The Cowboys get some cap relief from Romo’s new deal, but could be hamstrung by his lofty salary figure in the future. Plus, one playoff win in three years would indicate Romo may never bring a Super Bowl to Dallas. That’s why NESN.com’s Luke Hughes and Doug Kyed think Romo deserves a starting job in the NFL, and maybe even for the Cowboys, but that they money he’s being guaranteed is just way too much.
