Bruins Down 2-0 But Are in Better Position Against Canucks Than They Were Against Canadiens Editor’s note: NESN.com and The Vancouver Sun are teaming up for Across Enemy Lines during the Bruins-Canucks series. The Vancouver Sun’s Ian Walker answered our Game 3 questions, which you can read by clicking here, and Douglas Flynn answered their questions.

The Bruins kicked off the postseason with a pair of home losses to the Canadiens — obviously, not the best way to start a playoff run. However, the team turned things around in Montreal and went on to oust the Habs in seven games.

Fast forward to the Stanley Cup Final and the B’s are, once again, down 2-0, this time to the Canucks. How much will the Bruins’ experience from going down 2-0 to the Canadiens in the opening round help them now?

“There’s certainly a benefit to having the knowledge that you’ve already erased a deficit like this once, but the situations aren’t quite identical,” Flynn wrote. “In some ways, the Bruins are in a better position. They lost those first two games to the Canadiens at home, and had to go up to Montreal and win the next two on the road to pull even. This time around, the Bruins will have the benefit of returning home to try to get back in the series with the next two games at the Garden.

“On the other hand, this Vancouver team is much better than Montreal,” he added. “There’s no denying the Canucks possess better overall depth and talent, and winning four of the next five games against them is going to be a monumental challenge.”
