After a five-year hiatus from the Boston Red Sox, Dr. Charles Steinberg will be returning as the Senior Advisor to President/CEO Larry Lucchino. He has been the Senior Advisor to the Commissioner of Baseball – Public Affairs, since 2010.

Lucchino sure seemed excited to have Steinberg back on the payroll.

"The 100th Anniversary of Fenway Park marks an extraordinary time in the history of the Red Sox, and our ownership group was eager to have ‘Dr. Charles’ return to be an active and creative participant," said Lucchino when he made the announcement.  "We are grateful that Commissioner Selig has agreed to let him return at this historic time for our franchise."

Steinberg came to Boston in 2002 and served as the Executive Vice President/Public Affairs until 2007.
