The History Channel’s Hatfields and McCoys has taken the world by storm, captivating TV audiences across the country.

The story of a feud between two families in the back country of Kentucky and West Virginia brings to mind some of the hate-filled feuds in the world of professional sports.

In sports, there are rivalries, and there are coaches and players who flat out hate one another.

Kobe Bryant and Shaquille O’Neal let their hatred break up a Laker team that won three consecutive NBA titles. And the boxing world has hatreds new and old, as Muhammad Ali and Joe Frazier‘s rivalry stacks up with the present-day rivalry between Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather on this list.
