Mike Trout‘s mother, Debbie, may have set the example for her son’s success. But she’s giving Torii Hunter credit for her son’s development, too.
When news broke that Hunter signed a two-year, $26 million deal with the Tigers, Debbie reached out to the former Angels outfielder and expressed her gratitude for offering guidance to Trout –– who was named the AL Rookie of the Year.
@toriihunter48 Thank you from the bottom of my heart!!! Mike has learned from the Best!!!We will miss you but see you in Detroit!!!

Hunter, however, didn’t accept the accolades. He deferred to Debbie for instilling the proper values in Trout that allowed him to flourish as a rookie, when he hit 30 home runs and 83 RBIs while batting .326 and stealing 49 bases.
@DebbieTrout27 no mama! Thanks to u for raising such a great kid. He was easy to work with and talk to. @Trouty20 is a special kid

Regardless of who takes the credit, Hunter seemingly has the open invitation to family dinners at the Trout house. Even if he has switched allegiances by leaving the Angels for the Tigers.
