Report: Phil Jackson Has ‘No Intention of Ever Coaching Again,’ Again

Phil JacksonGetting Phil Jackson back to coaching in the NBA is generally a multistep process, and one of those steps usually includes him saying that he is done with coaching.

So the Nets are still in luck.

Jackson, who won 11 NBA titles with the Bulls and Lakers, has been rumored to be in the sights of the Brooklyn Nets, who recently fired coach Avery Johnson. The team has since bounced back under interim coach J.P. Carlesimo, but that hasn’t stalled speculation that the team wants a marquee leader, such as Jackson.

But Jackson says his coaching days are over.

“I have no intention of ever coaching again,” Jackson told Chris Sheridan of SheridanHoops.com.

It’s not the first time Jackson has said he was done coaching, though, and Sheridan quickly pointed out that his phrasing — “no intention,” and no mention of “retiring” — doesn’t necessarily mean he’s closed all the doors.

Jackson also didn’t give Sheridan any more information on the Nets’ job and whether he had been contacted for the head coaching vacancy.
