Jackie Bradley Jr.It’s not goodbye, Jackie Bradley Jr. It’s simply see you later.

Bradley has been optioned to Triple-A Pawtucket in order for David Ortiz to be activated, according to CSNNE.com’s Sean McAdam. Bradley will reportedly join the PawSox in Rochester on Friday, while Ortiz will join the big league club in Boston.

Ortiz, whose 2012 season was derailed by an injury, has yet to appear in a game with the Red Sox this season. He’ll join the team on Friday after going 4-for-20 during a rehab assignment down at Triple-A.

Bradley’s first taste of the majors didn’t go according to plan. After tearing the cover off the ball during spring training, the rookie struggled mightily upon making the team’s Opening Day roster. Bradley, who turns 23 on Friday, hit .097 (3-for-31).

The move isn’t all that surprising, as it was expected to come at some point. Bradley certainly has a bright future ahead of him, though, so we just may see him back in Boston before long.
