Report: NBA All-Star Game Being Held in Boston Is ‘Something Worth Looking At’ for Celtics

TD GardenThe NBA All-Star game has not been held in Boston since 1964, but it could be on its way back after a half-century away. Although the last five All-Star games have been in warm-weather cities, the Celtics are reportedly looking to host the event again.

Celtics managing partner Wyc Grousbeck is considering filing an application to host the All-Star game after a conversation with Jim Rooney, the executive director of the Massachusetts Convention Center Authority, Grousbeck told The Boston Globe.

“I spoke to Jim Rooney casually the other day about it,” Grousbeck told the Globe’s Gary Washburn. “And we’ve agreed it’s something worth looking at.”

There has been concern that the NBA would not award the game to a cold-weather city, Washburn reports, but both Brooklyn and New York are in the running to host the 2015 game. Philadelphia was the last Northeast city to host the game, in 2002.
