Depth should not be a primary concern as the Boston Bruins begin a stretch of four games in six days Monday night on Long Island.
Bruins coach Claude Julien told reporters after Monday’s morning skate that rookie center Ryan Spooner, who missed Saturday’s win over the Philadelphia Flyers, is over the flu and will be ready to play against the New York Islanders.
Julien also said that center Chris Kelly, who has been out since Dec. 7 with a broken leg, will not play Monday. There is a “good possibility” Kelly could be in the lineup Tuesday night, though, when the Bruins host the Florida Panthers.
Defenseman Adam McQuaid is not nearing a return to action, however. Julien said McQuaid, who is dealing with a leg injury, did not travel with the team to Nassau.
After visiting the Islanders, the Bruins open a four-game homestand, which includes dates with the Panthers, Montreal Canadiens, Edmonton Oilers and Vancouver Canucks.
