Brazil got off to the worst possible start in the opening game of the 2014 World Cup when it gave Croatia an early first-half lead thanks to an own goal by left back Marcelo.
After Croatia sent a low-driven cross into the penalty box, one of its forwards failed to put a quality attempt on the net. But the visitors got lucky when the ball deflected off the Real Madrid defender and past Brazilian goalkeeper Julio Cesar.
