Screen.Shot.2014.09.08.at.10.45.12.PM(1)After three consecutive seasons of losing 100 games or more, it’s safe to say that Houston Astros fans have gotten used to losing.

Maybe that’s why before the season started, Houston furniture store owner Jim “Mattress Mack” McIngvale started a promotion giving the first 500 customers who spent more than $6,300 on furniture a full refund if the Astros didn’t lose 100 games in 2014.

The Astros won their 63rd game Sunday against the Oakland Athletics and clinched their first double-digit loss season since 2010.

Meanwhile, “Mattress Mack” clinched a seven-digit loss.

The furniture store owner went on SportsRadio 610 in Houston and estimated a $4.2 million loss because of the Astros’ 63rd win.

Ouch.

McIngvale tried to be a good sport, though.

“It’s exciting. We’re in the customer business. Nothing makes customers happier than winning a promotion like this. It’s good to give back money to customers and they become customers for life.”

While he’s saying all the right things, there’s may be just a twinge of gloom in his heart after losing that kind of money.
