Torey Lovullo, Jackie Bradley Jr., Brock HoltTorey Lovullo is ready to become a major league manager. So far, the Boston Red Sox bench coach hasn’t found an organization willing to provide that opportunity.

Perhaps this offseason could be different. Lovullo interviewed for the Texas Rangers’ managerial vacancy on Tuesday, club officials confirmed to The Dallas Morning News. Lovullo has spent the last two seasons on Red Sox manager John Farrell’s big league staff.

Lovullo was the first external candidate to interview for the Rangers’ managerial job, which was vacated by Ron Washington, who resigned in September. Washington, who spent parts of eight seasons as Texas’ skipper, later explained his resignation, saying he wasn’t true to his wife after 42 years of marriage. Tim Bogar, a former Red Sox coach, served as the Rangers’ interim manager down the stretch.

Lovullo also was Farrell’s bench coach with the Toronto Blue Jays in 2011 and 2012. The 49-year-old has minor league managerial experience.

The Boston Globe’s Nick Cafardo reports the Minnesota Twins have received permission from the Red Sox to interview Lovullo for their managerial vacancy, which was created by Ron Gardenhire’s firing.
