The Boston Red Sox made one of the biggest moves at the 2014 MLB trade deadline. But that doesn’t guarantee their acquisition will be here in 2015.
The Sox shipped ace Jon Lester and slugger Jonny Gomes to the Oakland A’s in return for outfielder Yoenis Cespedes, who has emerged as one of the best power hitters in the game. Cespedes immediately provided a boost to Boston’s struggling offense, clobbering five home runs and driving in 33 runs in 51 games.
Yet the Cuban slugger recently has caused concern in Red Sox Nation. A week after Cespedes switched agencies to join Jay Z’s Roc Nation, a report surfaced that a rift between the outfielder and the coaching staff could lead to him being traded this offseason.
Red Sox manager John Farrell quickly denied the report, but the question still remains: Is Cespedes a good fit in Boston?
