Jon Lester To Red Sox Fans: ‘Boston Will Always Have A Big Place In My Heart’

Jon Lester’s final appearance with the Boston Red Sox was July 25, 2014, but the hope of a reunion between the two sides didn’t die until Wednesday morning.

That’s when Lester signed a reported six-year contract for $155 million with the Chicago Cubs. Fans who held out hope the Red Sox would ultimately re-sign Lester after trading him at the MLB trade deadline were disappointed to wake up Wednesday and learn the news.

Lester has been quiet about the entire ordeal really since the season ended, but he took to Twitter on Wednesday morning to not only confirm the reported news but to reach out to Red Sox fans one last time.
