Life was sweet for all New England Patriots fans on Super Bowl Sunday, with the exception of one famous actor.

“Hot Tub Time Machine 2” actor Rob Corddry, a Patriots diehard, wasn’t going absolutely nuts when he watched Malcolm Butler intercept Russell Wilson’s pass at the 1-yard line to seal the win over the Seattle Seahawks. That’s because Corddry wasn’t able to watch the incredible game at all.

In what only can be described as a cruel twist of fate, Corddry’s flight arrangements changed on the day of the game, and he was forced to follow along with a radio broadcast.

The actor, who’s from Weymouth, Mass., told USA Today’s For The Win blog that he planned to watch his Patriots on the tiny screen in the seat in front of him all along, but a canceled flight threw a wrench into those less-than-ideal plans.

“It was worse. It was way worse,” Corddry told For The Win. “My flight got canceled in Chicago of all places. So my flight got switched and I didn’t have a TV. But I did have the Internet, so I had to listen to the game on Westwood One radio and watch the play-by-play, drive-by-drive on NFL.com. You know, the graph.”

Corddry added the experience was “brutal,” and he had no idea what was going on for the majority of the game. He could tell, without a doubt though, the moment the Patriots clinched the victory.

“I was actually given a flag for excessive celebration by American Airlines,” he said.

Well worth it.
