Octavius Ellis might have a future in MMA if this whole basketball thing doesn’t work out.

The Cincinnati forward found himself in the low post in Thursday night’s Round of 64 game against No. 9 seed Purdue. He needed to gain position on Purdue’s A.J. Hammond as a shot went up, and here’s how he did it.

That’s not how you box out, kids.

As you’d expect, Ellis was assessed a flagrant 2 foul and was ejected from the game, because you just can’t go elbowing people in the throat like that.

The Cincy big man soon realized his mistake, though, and burst into tears when the refs delivered the bad news.

If there’s a silver lining for Ellis, it’s that he’ll be eligible to play in the next round if the Bearcats advance. The bad news, of course, is that their opponent likely will be Kentucky.
