The New England Patriots added a new pass-catching specialist Tuesday.

The Patriots signed running back Travaris Cadet, the team announced Tuesday. His contract with the team is for two years, according to Nick Underhill of The New Orleans Advocate.

Cadet caught 38 passes for 296 yards last season with the New Orleans Saints. The 6-foot-1, 210-pound running back has just 11 career carries for 37 yards with no touchdowns. He has 45 career receptions for 345 yards with two touchdowns.

Cadet could combine with 2014 fourth-round draft pick James White to take over Shane Vereen’s role on third down. Vereen signed with the New York Giants last Tuesday.

Cadet signed with the Saints as an undrafted free agent out of Appalachian State in 2012. He ran a 4.67-second 40-yard dash at his pro day with a 6.97-second three-cone drill.
