UPDATE (9:10 p.m. ET): Justin Wilson has died following the injuries he sustained Sunday at Pocono, IndyCar officials said in a press conference Monday.
Sage Karam, the driver whose crash sent debris flying onto the track, was released from the hospital Monday morning.
Wilson was 37 years old.
ORIGINAL STORY: IndyCar driver Justin Wilson is in critical condition Sunday night after he was hit with debris from Sage Karam’s crash at Pocono Raceway during Sunday’s race. Wilson suffered a severe head injury and is in a coma.
He was airlifted to a local hospital, according to FOX Sports.
IndyCar released a statement on Wilson’s condition.
