Fantasy Football: Karlos Williams, Mike Wallace In Week 4 Starts, Sits

Great moments are born from great opportunity.

Those were the inspirational words of 1980 U.S. Olympic hockey coach Herb Brooks, who dispensed some sage fantasy advice to his players before they made history against the Soviet Union.

OK, not exactly, but that statement still resonates in the world of fantasy, where success often directly correlates to volume of work. Just look at Atlanta Falcons running back Devonta Freeman, who stepped up in the absence of Tevin Coleman last week to produce nearly 200 total yards and three touchdowns.

So who’s capable of making a fantasy miracle this week? Let’s find out in our Week 4 Starts and Sits.

Note: Sunday’s slate kicks off at 9:30 a.m. ET with New York Jets vs. Miami Dolphins in London, so make sure you set your lineup ahead of time!

STARTS
Cam Newton, Quarterback, Carolina Panthers. Newton was a fantasy beast last weekend, and there’s a good chance that trend continues against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, against whom he’s racked up 16 total touchdowns in six career games.

Karlos Williams, Running Back, Buffalo Bills. It’s looking unlikely LeSean McCoy will play Sunday. Williams already has scored in every game this season, and now it’s looking like he’s the lead back in a run-heavy offense against a mediocre New York Giants front.

Devonta Freeman, Running Back, Atlanta Falcons. Will Freeman put up the same monster numbers he did last week? Against the Houston Texans, probably not. But the run game clearly is having success, and Atlanta should give him plenty of touches once again.

Allen Robinson, Wide Receiver, Jacksonville Jaguars. Robinson is the No. 1 target in the passing game, and if Jacksonville gets down early on the road against the Indianapolis Colts, he’s a prime candidate to rack up some big late-game yardage.

Amari Cooper, Wide Receiver, Oakland Raiders. Speaking of No. 1 targets, Derek Carr clearly loves throwing to Cooper (back-to-back games with 11 targets), so there’s no excuse to keep the rookie on your bench, especially against a porous Chicago Bears defense.

SITS
Alfred Morris, Running Back, Washington Redskins. 25, 18, 6. That’s the number of carries Morris has gotten in his last three games. He’ll still play a role in this offense, but as long as Matt Jones figures into the mix, it’s hard to trust Morris to give you the production he used to.

DeMarco Murray, Running Back, Philadelphia Eagles. Murray likely will be a game-time decision Sunday, and he’s yet to prove that he’s even the most effective rusher on the Eagles. Until he plays a full game and gets a solid number of carries, look elsewhere.

Rashad Jennings, Running Back, New York Giants. Jennings already has to fight with Andre Williams and Shane Vereen for touches, and the Giants’ run game as a whole hasn’t been effective this season. A matchup against the Bills’ stingy defense won’t exactly help.

Terrance Williams, Wide Receiver, Dallas Cowboys. Williams is the definition of “boom or bust,” and his goose egg in Week 3 leads us to believe he’s more inclined toward the latter, as Brandon Weeden focused primarily on his check-downs and short crossing routes.

Mike Wallace, Wide Receiver, Minnesota Vikings. Wallace has caught just three passes in each of his last two games, and now he’ll face Aqib Talib, Chris Harris Jr. and the lights-out Denver Broncos defense. No thanks.
