Dale Earnhardt Jr. got engaged away from the track, Kevin Harvick began his championship defense with two wins and two second place finishes, and Danica Patrick raced in a GoDaddy car for the final time — but none of those even made our final list.
Jeff Gordon did, though. The 44-year-old finally is saying goodbye to the sport he’s dominated for so long.
