Brooks Orpik only received a two-minute minor for interference Saturday after his brutal high hit on the Pittsburgh Penguins’ Olli Maatta in Game 2 of the Penguins and Washington Capitals’ second-round Stanley Cup playoff series, but he received a much harsher penalty from the league the following day.

The NHL suspended Orpik three games for interference after a dangerous hit to the head on Maatta. You can see the play in the video, via For The Win, below.

The suspension means Orpik might miss the rest of the teams’ second-round series, depending on how Games 3, 4 and 5 turn out. He will be eligible to return for Game 6 if the series, which is tied at one game apiece after the Penguins’ victory Saturday, reaches that point.
