Bill Belichick is especially prickly when it comes to addressing the media after New England Patriots minicamp sessions.

The Patriots head coach did open up Tuesday when asked about working with his son, Steve, who was named safeties coach this offseason after previous working as a coaching assistant.

“It’s really special,” Belichick said. “It’s special to be able to come in every day and see him. There were certainly a lot of days I wasn’t there when they were at school. I was doing my thing and they were doing theirs, so it’s great to be able to see him every day.”

Steve Belichick opened up about what the promotion meant to him last month during the start of the Patriots’ offseason workout program.

Belichick’s younger son, Brian, also has been on hand for the Patriots’ organized activities and minicamp, working as a scout.
