Rob Gronkowski caused a stir in March when he sent out a cryptic tweet about his contract. He could receive a new deal out of the post.

The Patriots picked up a four-year option on Gronkowski’s contract that was included in the six-year contract extension he signed in 2012. He’ll earn between $30.5 and $33 million over the next four years as part of the picked-up option, which is a bargain for a player of Gronkowski’s caliber.

The Patriots and Gronkowski are working on a new deal, though “nothing is imminent,” a source told NFL Media’s Mike Garafolo on Sunday. Gronkowski’s agents, Drew and Jason Rosenhaus, were present for Patriots training camp Sunday. Patriots head coach Bill Belichick greeted the Rosenhaus brothers as he left the practice field.

Tight end Jordan Reed signed a five-year, $46.75 million contract with the Washington Redskins this offseason. The Kansas City Chiefs locked up Travis Kelce for $46.8 million over five years, while the Philadelphia Eagles signed Zach Ertz to a five-year, $42.5 million deal.
