It turns out Tim Tebow could wind up being a Major League Baseball player after all. He’d be playing for one of the worst teams in the league, but, hey, it’s a start.

The former NFL quarterback and Heisman Trophy winner worked out at USC for 28 teams Tuesday — the Oakland Athletics and Chicago Cubs didn’t attend — and Tebow’s representatives said about five to six teams were interested in him after the two-hour session. And according to ESPN, the Atlanta Braves are at the top of that list.

The Braves reportedly are looking into signing Tebow to a minor league deal, sources told ESPN’s Pedro Gomez recently. Gomez also reported that five teams had one-on-one meetings with Tebow, so it’s unclear if there has been much more interest beyond that from the Braves or any other team.

Either way, the results from scouts who attended the workout weren’t exactly glowing. The general consensus was that Tebow could generate power, but needed to work on other parts of his game, including his arm.

Tebow hasn’t played baseball since he was in high school.
