Calling all big hitters on the links.

Fans are invited to join Bruins forward Milan Lucic and goaltender Tim Thomas in the Boston Bruins Foundation’s “Swing Like Happy Gilmore Long Drive Contest” on Sept. 1, from 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m., at Golf Country in Middleton, Mass. All proceeds from the event will benefit the Boston Bruins Foundation. Lucic and Thomas will serve as celebrity judges in the contest.

For a $10 donation to the Boston Bruins Foundation, fans of any age are welcome to participate. Each participant will get three attempts to hit their ball as far as possible using a swing like Happy Gilmore, the title character from the 1996 movie comedy starring Adam Sandler.

The fan who hits the longest drive will receive two tickets to the Boston Bruins Foundation’s 6th Annual Golf Tournament dinner – where they will meet and dine with Bruins players, coaches and executives — and also get an autographed Milan Lucic jersey. The second-place winner will receive a Boston Bruins hockey stick putter signed by Lucic and Thomas.

The Boston Bruins Foundation's 6th Annual Golf Tournament will be held Sept. 8 at The International in Bolton, Mass. All proceeds from the golf tournament will benefit the Boston Bruins Foundation and the Boston Bruins Alumni Association, and will make it possible to assist various children’s charitable organizations.

The five previous Boston Bruins Golf Tournaments have raised over $690,000.
