Report: Red Sox Expected to Offer Contract to Casey Kotchman With the expected trade of Mike Lowell, the Red Sox are going to need some infielders. According to one report, Casey Kotchman figures to be in that mix.

The Red Sox plan to tender a contract to Kotchman, according to WEEI. The deadline for doing so is Saturday, as Kotchman is eligible for arbitration. His salary last season was roughly $2.9 million, and after arbitration it is believed he'll receive a slight raise.

Kotchman batted .218 in limited work for the Red Sox last season after being traded to Boston at the deadline. In his career, he is a .269 hitter with 40 home runs and 233 RBIs in 520 games. He was part of the trade package that the Angels sent to the Braves in exchange for Mark Teixeira in 2008.
