Casey Fien has had a busy week. The Blue Jays claimed the Red Sox pitcher off waivers on Thursday, three days after Boston claimed Fien off waivers from the Tigers.

The Red Sox attempted to sneak the right-hander past waivers, but the Jays picked him up, the Toronto Star reports.

The 26-year-old reliever posted a 7.94 ERA in nine games with Detroit last year, allowing 10 earned runs in 11 innings.

The Blue Jays placed pitcher Scott Richmond on the 60-day disabled list to make room for Fien on their 40-man roster.

Fien joins the competition for a spot in Toronto's bullpen this season.

The Red Sox' 40-man roster now stands at 39.
