Josh Beckett was scratched from his start against the Twins on Sunday, but there's no need to worry about the ace's health.

According to Boston.com, Beckett suffered from the flu this weekend but is feeling much better. He plans to play catch on Tuesday, throw a side session on Wednesday and start against Pittsburgh on Friday.

Beckett participated in Tuesday's fielding drills but sat out the running portion of the program.

"I feel a lot better," Beckett told Boston.com. "The medication they gave me is starting to work. I'll pitch Friday, no doubt."

Beckett isn't concerned about any lingering effects the skipped start will have on him once the regular season starts.

"I usually get my innings in because I throw strikes," he told the Web site. "In terms of pitch count, I may be behind a little, but I can catch up. I'm going to be fine."

So far this spring, Beckett has thrown five innings and has allowed two hits and one earned run, posting a 1.80 ERA.
