6:00 p.m.:  Play is expected to resume at 6:20 p.m., according to NESN.com's Tony Lee in the Red Sox-Yankees live blog.

5:15 p.m.: The Red Sox and Yankees are in a rain delay after a sudden torrential downpour. The current belief, according to FOX's weather report during the game broadcast, is that play will resume in 30-45 minutes.

11:45 a.m.: As of 11:45 a.m. on Saturday, May 8, the current weather forecast (provided by the Red Sox private weather service, Telvent DTN) in the vicinity of Fenway Park calls for the possibility of scattered thunder showers during the early afternoon hours.

However, relatively dry conditions are expected during the afternoon and evening hours.

The Fenway Park gates are expected to open at the regularly scheduled time of 1:10 p.m., and the Red Sox are hopeful that Saturday’s game with the New York Yankees, which is scheduled to start at 3:10 p.m., will begin on time. However, the Red Sox want to alert our fans to the current forecast and to the possibility of delay.

This forecast is of course subject to change as the day progresses. Additional updates will be provided as necessary.
