Darnell McDonald Scratched Late As Sox Prepare to Face Justin Verlander

Darnell McDonald was a late scratch with a tight back and Mike Cameron remains sidelined, leaving the Red Sox with another new outfield rotation as they wrap up a three-game series with the Detroit Tigers on Sunday afternoon.

McDonald was originally in the lineup, batting ninth and playing center field. The Sox replaced him with Eric Patterson two hours before the game. Cameron has not played since Friday night, when he struck out three times and saw a drive into the gap glance off his glove.

Ryan Kalish will make his second straight start in left field for Boston. He had a pair of hits and an RBI in Saturday's 5-4 win.

The Sox face a challenge in Tigers starter Justin Verlander, but several of them have enjoyed facing the hard-throwing righty. J.D. Drew, Kevin Youkilis, David Ortiz and Victor Martinez — the heart of the order — are a combined 22-for-69 (.319) with seven homers and 14 RBIs against Verlander.

Here are the complete lineups for both teams:
