Homer-Happy Victor Martinez Leads Red Sox Offense, Bags Top Dawg of the Week Honors Although the Red Sox split their last six games with three wins and three losses, one bat was able to remain consistent.

Catcher Victor Martinez went 10-for-24 (.417 BA) against the Mariners and Rays to earn Jerry Remy's Top Dawg of the Week award. V-Mart edged out Clay Buchholz, David Ortiz and Bill Hall in Remy's eyes, even though the fans felt Buchholz deserved the title.

Martinez smacked three homers on the week in addition to driving in four runs and scoring five. He was also able to raise his batting average from .283 to .292 in the process, which is getting him closer to his fifth season with a .300 average or higher.

Buchholz, who captured 46 percent of the fan's vote as of noon on Monday, allowed one earned run on four hits over 7 1/3 innings pitched in his only appearance of the week — a 3-2 loss to the Rays, where he received the no decision. The righty managed to lower his ERA to an AL-best 2.21.

Ortiz picked up 24 percent of the fan's vote despite hitting just .217 and striking out five times while bagging just two extra bases to go with two runs scored.

Hall received just 10 at-bats in both series combined. He struck out five times and chipped in with a single and a double.
