George Steinbrenner Memorial Twice the Size of Babe Ruth, Mickey Mantle Monuments at Yankee Stadium The Boss has returned to Yankee Stadium.

In a special ceremony leading up to the first pitch against the Tampa Bay Rays, the Yankees' organization unveiled their latest tribute in Monument Park. Twice the size of any other monument featured in the park of legends, the George Steinbrenner memorial stands five feet tall with a seven-foot wide base.

Weighing in at 760 pounds, the monument is twice the size of the Babe Ruth, Mickey Mantle and Joe DiMaggio memorials nearby.

The Steinbrenner family was honored during the pregame ceremony, escorted by MLB commissioner Bud Selig and his wife to the logo behind home plate. There, the family watched a tribute video commemorating the legendary owner and his 37-year tenure at the helm of the Yankees organization.

On the monument inscription, Steinbrenner is called "a true visionary who changed the game of baseball forever" and is referred to as "the most influential owner in all of sports."

The entire Yankees roster walked out to the center field park to witness the unveiling where they were joined by several team legends including Yogi Berra, Reggie Jackson, Don Mattingly and Joe Torre. Frank Sinatra Jr. sang the national anthem at the event.

The Yankees won seven World Series titles during Steinbrenner's ownership term, with 11 American League pennant victories. He had just turned 80 when he passed away in July.
